Frequently Asked Questions
iReal 2E FAQ
What is the SCANOLOGY iReal 2E?
iReal 2E is a professional full-color infrared structured-light
3D scanner designed primarily for human-body scanning and
medium-to-large objects.
How accurate is iReal 2E?
The current manufacturer specification lists basic accuracy up to
0.100 mm and alignment accuracy up to 0.300 mm/m under the specified
test conditions.
How fast is iReal 2E?
The current manufacturer product specification lists scanning rates
up to approximately 1.2 million points per second with a compatible
graphics card.
Can iReal 2E scan people?
Yes. Human-body and portrait scanning are primary applications for
the iReal 2E. Its invisible infrared light is designed for comfortable
scanning around the face and body.
Can iReal 2E scan hair?
Yes. SCANOLOGY designed the structured-light system and body-scanning
algorithms to improve hair capture compared with conventional
visible-light color scanners.
Does iReal 2E require markers?
Not always. Objects with sufficient geometry or texture can use
feature, texture or mixed alignment without targets. Marker alignment
is also available when needed.
Can iReal 2E capture color?
Yes. iReal 2E supports 24-bit color reproduction and texture capture.
What size objects can iReal 2E scan?
The scanner is optimized for medium and large objects, with an ideal
working range around 0.3 to 4 meters depending on application and
required detail.
Can iReal 2E scan outdoors?
The infrared technology can operate in a range of lighting
conditions, including outdoor environments. Controlled lighting is
still preferable when high-quality color texture is important.
Can iReal 2E be used for orthotics and prosthetics?
Yes. Its body-scanning capability can capture body geometry for
orthotics, prosthetics, braces and other personalized products.
Can iReal 2E be used for 3D printing?
Yes. iReal 2E exports STL and OBJ formats suitable for compatible
3D printing and mesh-processing workflows.
Can iReal 2E be used for reverse engineering?
Yes, particularly for medium-to-large components where 0.1 mm basic
accuracy is suitable for the project. Higher-precision industrial
applications may benefit from a dedicated metrology-grade scanner.
How much does iReal 2E weigh?
The scanner weighs approximately 850 grams, or 1.87 pounds.
